Lettuce wrapped burger
Print recipeBurgers usually come with highly processed buns containing all sorts of unhealthy additives. Why not swap the bread for some deliciously crispy salad leaves and increase your nutrient and fibre intake?
Combined with homemade garlic mayonnaise it’s a true feast.

- 200 g minced meat (any sort)
- 1 egg
- 1 small onion
- 1 large handful fresh parsley
- 2 tablespoons coconut flour
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- Half teaspoon salt
- pepper to tatse
- A few large lettuce or salad leaves
- 1 large tomato
- 1 large tablespoon coconut oil for frying
Method
- Wash lettuce, tomato and parsley
- Finely chop onion and parsley
- In large bowl, mix minced meat, egg, onions, parsley, mustard, coconut flour, salt and pepper using a fork or your hands
- Form two balls using your hands, then flatten to burger patties
- Add coconut oil to pan and fry burgers on slightly higher heat, turning them regularly until they have turned brown on both sides, this will take 10-15 minutes
- Meanwhile prepare garlic mayonnaise
- Cut tomato in slices
- Place burger on lettuce, add mayonnaise and tomatoes on top. Then wrap salad leaf (or leaves) around burger and serve
