Shakshuka
Print recipeShakshuka is a one-pan dish, a popular egg variation that tastes wonderful! You make a base of spiced tomato sauce with fresh vegetables and top it with poached eggs. Sounds complicated, but it really isn’t! You’ll have it on the table in no time for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 onion
- 2 cloves of garlic
- butter for frying
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon chilli powder
- 1 pepper
- 1 tin of chopped tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato purée
- 4 eggs
- pinch of salt
- pinch of pepper
Topping
- 1 handful of rocket
- 50 g feta
Method
- Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic.
- Melt butter in a large frying pan and sauté the onion and garlic, then add the cumin, paprika and chilli powder.
- Finely chop the pepper and fry briefly.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and tomato purée, stir the sauce well and let it simmer for a moment. Make 4 wells in the sauce and crack the eggs into them, place the lid on the pan and let the eggs steam until set.
- Remove the lid from the pan and scatter the rocket and feta over the top.
